Peatland and biodiversity
Come and learn about peatland restoration and its impact on biodiversity. The Peatland Ecology Research Group (PERG) has been working with the Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association (CSPMA) and its members for the past 30 years to develop and improve methods for ecological restoration of peatlands following peat extraction. The restoration method widely deployed in Canada increases the biological diversity of restored peatlands through the establishment of floral communities and the creation of diverse wildlife habitats (entomofauna and avifauna).
